A patio cover or pergola does not require much maintenance. Depending on the season, you can estimate when it is needed. Depending on the material of your patio covering or pergola, there are other instructions regarding maintenance. To provide complete information on how to go about it, we have formulated all the main elements of maintenance for you.

Way of cleaning

Maintenance of aluminum frame

Clean the aluminum frame with a soft cloth or sponge soaked in a mixture of lukewarm water and non-degreasing soap.

So that you do not damage the paint of the frame, it is important that you carefully remove attached dirt with a soft cloth or sponge.

After cleaning, rinse the patio cover copiously with water.

Avoid using abrasives and scouring pads at all times. This can damage the frame.

Roofing maintenance

Before you start cleaning the roof make sure it is free of dirt, leaves and snow.

Afterwards, clean with a soft cloth or sponge soaked in water and non-degreasing soap.

So that you do not damage the roofing, it is important that you gently remove the attached dirt with a soft cloth or sponge.

After cleaning, rinse the patio cover copiously with water.

To avoid walking on the roofing, you can use a retractable chamois for cleaning.

Gutter maintenance

To prevent clogging of the gutter, remove leaves and large pieces of debris on a regular basis.

Frequency maintenance

Aluminum frame

For a patio cover or pergola, cleaning once a year is sufficient.

If you live in sandy areas, we recommend twice a year.

Roofing

To fully enjoy the light transmission of the patio covers, periodic cleaning of the roofing is required.

The frequency of this cleaning varies from garden to garden.

Gutter

The frequency of gutter cleaning varies from garden to garden.

If there is a lot of planting nearby then this will be more frequent and vice versa if not.

Cleaning windows above patio cover

You should never walk on the roofing without installing wooden sleepers that can support your weight. After all, the extra weight should be distributed evenly.

To prevent damage and scratches to the roofing, firstly place protective cloths.
